This video shows how to hand make an ipad cover in the style of an envelope. The case has a clasp to fasten it together and under the flap there is a small pocket which is ideal for storing bank cards or money. The cover looks very impressive, and is made out of leather, making it strong and very durable. It will help protect your ipad while transporting it or while it is being stored.
The making of the ipad cover does require some specialist tools as you will see in the video, (for example special cutters for cutting the leather) so this may not be a project you want to undertake if you have not got the right tools. It is also not particularly quick to make, and there are lots of quite fiddly parts to it, so you really do need to feel confident before making the cover. However, if you are someone that enjoys making things, and have worked with leather before and possess the necessary equipment, then it well worth a go at this, as it allows you to custom make your own ipad cover.
The main top tip for successfully making this cover is to ensure that it will fit your own ipad (some of the older style ones are bigger/thicker). Do not just draw around yours as you need to allow for stitching and thickness of your ipad cover. That said, you also don’t want to make it too big as your ipad will then move around alot and not be so well protected.
