Easy Handmade Christmas Cards That Anyone Can Make – DIY Holiday Cards

This video shows you how to make some simple and uncomplicated Christmas cards. These cards are great if you want to have a go at making your own, but don’t want to do anything too tricky or want anything that is going to take too long.

The making of these particular cards uses a craft cutter, which is great for cutting your shapes perfectly, especially for cutting round shapes (such as for making baubles). However, you can still make these cards without one by uses other circular objects that you have around the house, for examples a glass or sellotape.

The first card is a bauble card. In the video example, the card has 3 baubles on the front of the card, but you can easily add more or uses different sizes. The baubles are cut out of different coloured card, and then decorated with a small piece of shiny silver card to create the shiny look on the baubles, which looks very effective. The silver card is also used to attach the top of the baubles to the string. For the string, you could even use real bauble string that comes in bauble packs or if you don’t have any, you could always draw them on.

The video suggests that if you don’t have shiny card, you can use a shiny silver pen such as a gel pen to create a shiny look at the attachment between the baubles and string.

The video shows how to make a further 4 different cards, that use fairly similar materials. The second card is a candy cane card, made with white and red circles layered on top of each other in a candy cane shape. It is then decorated with a red bow.

The next card is a Christmas tree card with a difference. The video shows creating a Christmas tree shape with different sized circles (I feel that this one really does need the specialist cutter, otherwise you are going to be looking all round the house for hours for lots of different sized circular objects to draw around). The tree is then decorated in a staggered way with a piece of red ribbon, but again you could use a pen to do this. There is also a slightly different way of making a Christmas tree card shown in the video.

The next card is a wreath card, made again with a circular cut out (with a hole in the middle) and then decorated with hole punch sized circles in white and red. Apart for the gluing of the hole punched circles, this card is really quick and easy to make and I feel looks particularly impressive, especially if decorated with a piece of red ribbon tied in a bow.

The final card is a Christmas lights card that is made by cutting white, red and green circles up into light bulb shapes which are then stuck as if they are dangling across the card. A piece of silver string is then added as the wires for the Christmas lights which again can be draw on with a silver pen.
